Boxing superstar Claressa Shields has reignited her rivalry with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, challenging him to a match under professional conditions. Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and undisputed champion in multiple weight divisions, isn’t holding back when discussing her ability to defeat Paul.
In a recent interview with DAZN’s Akin Reyes, Shields confidently declared she would dominate Paul in a fight, even under the strictest of boxing rules. “I would beat him in a fight, absolutely,” Shields stated. “Ten-ounce gloves, no headgear-he doesn’t stand a chance. I’ve been boxing for 18 years. Eighteen.”
Shields doubts Jake Paul’s skill level
This isn’t the first time Shields has called out Paul. Earlier this year, she dismissed his abilities during an interview with TMZ, claiming he lacked the skill to face her or any credible male boxer in higher weight classes. “I don’t think Jake Paul has the skills to get inside the ring with me,” Shields said. “Or any of the guys at 154 pounds and up who are ranked in the rankings.”
Shields elaborated on what sets her apart from Paul, emphasizing her technical expertise and years of experience. “I get it he’s got a d, I’ve got a vagina. But what about the skills I have? That doesn’t matter? He’d have to break me down and hit me, but I’d do it first.”
Will Jake Paul respond?
Paul, who has built a career on high-profile boxing matches against MMA fighters and celebrities, has yet to respond to Shields‘ latest challenge. Known for his brash persona, Paul has previously expressed interest in elevating women’s boxing but hasn’t stepped into the ring against a female fighter.
Shields, however, remains adamant that her skills outweigh Paul’s social media stardom. “The biggest and strongest man doesn’t win all the fights,” she pointed out. “It’s about skill, and I’ve got more than enough to take him down.”
While fans continue to speculate about whether Paul will accept the challenge, one thing is clear: Shields isn’t backing down. A match between the two would undoubtedly draw massive attention, pitting a decorated champion against a polarizing internet personality in what could be one of the most talked-about fights in boxing history.
