Chiefs vs. Buccaneers Super Bowl rematch could be coming as teams go all-in for Travis Kelce and Mike Evans

It hasn’t been easy to slow the Kansas City Chiefs‘ roll over the past seven seasons. Since Patrick Mahomes became the team’s starter, building immense chemistry with Travis Kelce, the only teams to have stopped them in the AFC have been the New England Patriots during the 2018 season and the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021.

When it comes to NFC teams, the Philadelphia Eagles last season and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV have gotten the best of Mahomes and co. in The Big Game. Surprisingly, the two times an NFC has come out on top against Kansas City have also been the most lopsided postseason games Mahomes and Kelce have endured.

Heading into 2025, the Chiefs want to get back to the Super Bowl and win it, putting a stamp on what very well might be Kelce’s final season. But they aren’t the only team playing for a franchise legend. The Buccaneers are doing so, too, and it could set up a rematch of the Super Bowl where Tom Brady bested Mahomes.

Could Mike Evans retire after the 2025 NFL season?

Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans hasn’t missed a beat even after Brady retired, developing a great connection with Baker Mayfield. While Evans hasn’t slowed down as he nears his 32nd birthday, he has hinted at the possibility of hanging up the cleats very soon. It has some wondering if the 2025 season will be his last.

Some analysts have picked up on sound bites out of Tampa Bay training camp coming off as a “Super Bowl or bust” type of mantra heading into the new season. Winning another one for Evans would certainly be a big motivator, perhaps just as big as the one the Chiefs have playing for Kelce.
