Chiefs’ Travis Kelce won’t go out on low note, plans another NFL season

Travis Kelce is not ready to hang up his cleats after the Kansas City Chiefs missed the playoffs this season.

The team’s 16-13 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday sealed a disappointing 6-8 record and ended their postseason hopes, a stark contrast to recent years of Super Bowl appearances and consecutive championships.

For a franchise accustomed to competing at the highest level, this unexpected downturn has raised questions about the future of veteran players, including the 36-year-old tight end. Kelce had reportedly considered retirement before the season, but the outcome has convinced him to push forward for at least one more year.

According to a Daily Mail exclusive, a source close to Kelce revealed that the tight end now plans to approach the offseason with renewed focus and energy.

“He wants to have one more ride with Patrick [Mahomes], wants to end it on his terms and not the nightmare that this season has turned out to be,” the insider said. “He’s committed to putting in the work and giving it one last run.”

Looking ahead to one last season

Kelce‘s determination is tied to both team and personal milestones. Alongside preparing for what could be his final NFL season, he is set to marry fiancee Taylor Swift next June. Despite the heartbreak of falling short this year, he is focused on finishing his career on a strong note rather than leaving it in disappointment.

Even though Kelce will miss this year’s playoffs, networks have reportedly expressed strong interest in featuring him as an analyst. “All the stations that show the NFL are clamoring to have Travis join them in their playoff coverage,” the source said. “It will be a good test run for when he actually does retire.”

The veteran tight end’s frustration was visible after Sunday’s game. In a video shared on social media, he was seen walking past young fans calling for autographs, quietly telling them: “Not right now y’all.” He also declined media interviews following the loss.

Despite the setback, Kelce‘s focus is clear: one final run alongside Mahomes, aiming to restore the Chiefs to championship form and close out his career on his own terms.
