Kadarius Toney, the former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver and two-time Super Bowl champion, was arrested last week following allegations that he strangled a woman during a dispute.

The incident, which reportedly took place on January 14, occurred at a residence in Georgia.

Kadarius Toney facing serious legal trouble

According to police documents obtained by TMZ, Toney is accused of placing his hands around the woman’s throat with enough force to restrict her breathing.

Doctors later confirmed that the alleged victim suffered visible injuries, including red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes.

In addition to the strangulation charge, Toney allegedly took the woman’s phone during the altercation to prevent her from calling 911.

On January 15, warrants were issued for his arrest.

Toney was taken into custody on February 6 and is facing charges of aggravated assault (strangulation) and obstruction of justice for allegedly interfering with a 911 call.

His bond was set at $25,000 for each charge.

Toney, who was drafted by the New York Giants in 2021, had a brief and tumultuous tenure with the Chiefs.

He joined the team in a trade midseason in 2022 and contributed to their victories in Super Bowls LVII and LVIII.

However, injuries and off-field distractions limited his impact on the field.

The Chiefs ultimately released him in the summer of 2024, parting ways with a player who struggled to stay healthy and fulfill expectations.

Following his release from the Chiefs, Toney joined the Cleveland Browns, but his time with the team was also short-lived, as he was let go in December after logging minimal contributions in three games.

Tony trolls Chiefs’ SB loss

While dealing with these legal issues, Toney seemed unfazed, posting a lighthearted Instagram story during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIX struggles.

His post, featuring an image of Batman looking up at the Bat Signal, jokingly implied he would swoop in to save the team.

With his legal case ongoing, the future of Toney’s football career remains uncertain.

His off-field actions and performance inconsistencies have left many questioning what lies ahead for the former first-round draft pick.
