Chiefs shine as Travis Kelce celebrates Taylor Swift’s Hall of Fame nod

The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into Week 8 looking unstoppable. After a 31-0 shutout of the Las Vegas Raiders, Patrick Mahomesand the offense are clicking at every level.

Tight end Travis Kelce hauled in all three of his targets for 54 yards and praised the team’s focus on his New Heights podcast. “There’s some mind-blowing stats,” Kelce said. “We had as many first downs as they had total plays. It’s crazy to think about what really went on this past Sunday.”

Jason Kelce, Travis’s brother and ESPN analyst, also joined in the fun. He gave Kansas City their flowers while giving a playful nod to Travis’s fiancĂ©e, Taylor Swift, who was in attendance for the Raiders game. Jason pointed out that Mahomes used Swift’s track “Opalite” in his Instagram highlight clip. “The sky is definitely opalite in Kansas City right now,” Jason said, and Travis couldn’t help but laugh. “I told y’all it was gonna be a banger, man.”

A Hall of Fame Moment Meets Arrowhead Momentum

As the Chiefs gear up for their Monday night matchup against the Washington Commanders, Kelce’s week just got even brighter. Swift was officially nominated for the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame in the Performing Songwriters category, joining artists like Pink, LL Cool J, and Sarah McLachlan, according to People and Billboard. Her nomination marks her first year of eligibility since the release of her debut single “Tim McGraw” in 2006.

The nomination dropped just as Kansas City prepares for its primetime game, creating a perfect storm of football dominance and celebrity buzz. With Swift expected back at Arrowhead Stadium, the spotlight around Kelce and the Chiefs only grows larger.

According to Arrowhead Pride, the Chiefs opened as heavy favorites, while the Commanders face major challenges without quarterback Jayden Daniels. The conditions are perfect for Kansas City to extend their streak and showcase the championship-level rhythm that has defined their season so far.

The combination of Mahomes’ leadership, Kelce’s consistency, and a team that seems to thrive under pressure has Kansas City fans dreaming big again. Add in a little pop-culture magic from Swift’s latest milestone, and it’s clear that both on the field and off it, the Chiefs are living in the moment.

If Kansas City keeps its focus and energy high, Monday night could be another statement win – one that keeps the team’s momentum alive and gives Swift even more reason to celebrate from the stands.
