As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for their highly anticipated Super Bowl LIX showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Andy Reid has provided an important update on wide receiver Rashee Rice’s status.
While the second-year playmaker won’t be available for Sunday’s game, his recovery from knee surgery is progressing well.

Speaking at Wednesday’s press conference, Reid shared that Rice is “doing well” following his October procedure to repair the LCL in his right knee.
“It’s a good sign for next year,”Reid added, signaling optimism about Rice’s long-term outlook.

However, he remains on injured reserve and will not suit up for the Chiefs’ biggest game of the year.
Rice emerged as a key target for Patrick Mahomes early in the 2024 season, tallying 288 yards and two touchdowns in just 3.5 games before suffering his season-ending injury in Week 4 against the Chargers.
His absence left a significant gap in Kansas City’s receiving corps, prompting the team to sign veteran DeAndre Hopkins to stabilize the group.

Rashee Rice on track for 2025 comeback
Despite the setback, Rice’s recovery has been on track with the estimated four-month timeline.
The procedure also addressed a hamstring tendon tear, but with the Super Bowl just days away, the Chiefs are playing it safe with their young receiver’s return.
“I feel terrible for Rashee. We will hope for the best,”Reid said when Rice initially went down.
Now, months later, the Chiefs are seeing progress, and fans can look forward to his return in the 2025 season.
With Rice expected to be back at full strength next season, the Chiefs face intriguing decisions at wide receiver.
Hopkins and fellow veteran Marquise “Hollywood” Brown are both pending free agents, and rookie Xavier Worthy will enter his second season.
A healthy Rice could allow Kansas City to be more strategic in free agency and the draft rather than making a major splash to reinforce the position.
For the first time since trading Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs’ receiving corps may become a true strength.
With Mahomes at the helm and Rice set to rejoin the mix, Kansas City’s offense could be even more dangerous in 2025.
