Chiefs’ post-Super Bowl shakeup: Team leaks talent as veteran coach heads to college football

Following a tough Super Bowl exit, the Kansas City Chiefs are facing significant personnel changes.

The latest move saw three practice squad players find new opportunities for the 2025 NFL season.

Chiefs’ roster reshuffle leaves fans on edge

In a move that underscores the team’s restructuring efforts, cornerback Nic Jones and wide receiver Montrell Washington have signed with the New York Giants and Denver Broncos, respectively, while linebacker Swayze Bozeman has inked a deal with the Chicago Bears.

Head coach Andy Reid, visibly reflective after the blowout defeat on February 9, addressed the shortcomings in his team’s performance.

“This one’s going to hurt. Today was a rough day. We didn’t really play well in any of the phases. I didn’t coach good enough. They did a nice job,” Reid admitted.

Despite the disappointment, he remained resolute.

“Let it hurt. Figure out how to get better because of it…I’m proud of our guys, though, for the battle, the fight that they put in throughout the year, and all the games that they played here over the last few years. We’ll learn from this. Like most games here, when you don’t do very well, you learn from it as a coach, you learn from it as a player, and you move on.”

While the Chiefs continue to take lessons from their loss, the front office has wasted no time to make roster moves looking towards next season.

The departure of these latest batch of players, who contributed minimally during the season, has stirred conversation among NFL fans regarding the depth of Kansas City’s roster.

The team’s management maintains that such moves are part of a broader strategy to recalibrate and strengthen the squad heading into next season.

With several practice squad players already re-signed, the Chiefs appear determined to rebuild and address the gaps that became evident during the postseason.

In a parallel shakeup, long-time assistant coach Terry Bradden Jr., an 8-year veteran of the Chiefs’ staff, has opted to pursue a college football venture accepting a position with Nebraska.

Bradden’s exit marks another significant shift within Reid’s organization as the team navigates the aftermath of their Super Bowl setback and prepares for the challenges ahead.

As the offseason unfolds, NFL enthusiasts will be closely watching how these roster and staff changes influence the Chiefs’ performance.

While Reid’s comments reflect both accountability and hope, the restructuring signals a pivotal moment for the franchise as they aim to regroup and reclaim their competitive edge.
