All eyes are always on the Kansas City Chiefs. It comes with the territory of winning three Super Bowls in the last five years, and it comes with having two universally known stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. When eyes are on your entire franchise, even the slightest mishap draws unwanted negative attention. And the Chiefs continue to bring it upon themselves.
On Sunday, Rashee Rice‘s mother was caught on video stealing a package from a neighbor’s doorstep. This comes after she reportedly was arrested for theft back in March. Marsha Kearney has also had to watch her son be involved in a serious legal situation stemming from a high-speed car crash he was responsible for earlier this year.
What is behind the Chiefs’ negative legal situations?
This recent incident has many fans pointing the finger at the entire Chiefs franchise as a whole.
There is a long list of players, family members of players and coaches, and others associated with the franchise who have run into legal trouble in recent years.
- Rashee Rice: 8 charges for high-speed crash
- Isaiah Buggs: Misdemeanor animal cruelty
- Wanya Morris: Misdemeanor possession of marijuana
- Chukwuebuka Godrick: Misdemeanor possession of marijuana
- Jackson Mahomes: Battery
- Pat Mahomes Sr.: 3 DWIs
- Britt Reid: DWI resulting in serious physical injury
Even the team’s super fan, dubbed “ChiefsAholic“, was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison without parole for a string of armed bank robberies. Now, we add Rice’s mother to the list.
It’s in poor taste to lump in a lot of the players and coaches who truly have nothing to do with any of these situations. But it’s definitely a cause for concern that these things continue to happen.
