Chiefs Kingdom accuses Clark Hunt of being “greedy” for moving the team to a $3 billion stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs are about to leave without looking back. The team has already set in motion its plans to leave Arrowhead Stadium and move to a new $3 billion facility. However, fans are letting Clark Hunt know they won’t be moving with the team.

This December, team owner Clark Hunt confirmed that the team will move across the state line to a state-of-the-art domed stadium in Wyandotte County and a new training facility in Johnson County, both in Kansas.

The package will cost a total of $3 billion, 60% of which will be funded by the state, with the remainder coming from private funds raised by the team.

Hunt believes the move will open up opportunities for the team that they don’t have at their current facility in Missouri. However, fans believe he is motivated by greed.

Chiefs Kingdom blasts Hunt over the move

Arrowhead Stadium has been the Chiefs’ home since 1972, which is why Hunt’s project has been so difficult for fans to accept. They took advantage of a recent team post on Instagram to express their discontent, with posts like:

  • “S*cks the ownership is fleeing this tradition and atmosphere for a failed modernized cookie-cutter stadium. All due to corporate greed!”
  • “And you’re building a soulless dome to replace this. Good work, Clark.”
  • “Yeah, and you are leaving because apparently all the billions the Hunt family has isn’t enough.”
  • “Clark Hunt doesn’t see this, he just sees dollar signs.”
  • “I went to Arrowhead in 2023 for the Chargers game. As a Detroiter, I have to say there’s no football environment quite like Arrowhead, and moving the team is a mistake.”

Hunt promises more titles at their new home

The Chiefs owner noted that the franchise has called three different stadiums “home” in its history and has won championships at each one.

Furthermore, the lease for Arrowhead expires in 2031, so Hunt promised:

We’re not done winning championships at Arrowhead.

He assured fans that they will miss the stadium and the community, but he guaranteed that future Chiefs fans “will have the best game day experience in the entire NFL” at their new home.
