The Kansas City Chiefs made a pair of roster moves on Friday, officially signing offensive guard Tremayne Anchrum while placing running back Keaontay Ingram on injured reserve, per the NFL’s transactions report. Anchrum was recently released by the Houston Texans on April 21 after joining their practice squad in November 2023.
While he did not appear in a game for Houston, the Texans had signed him to a futures contract in the offseason, signaling some initial interest in his long-term potential.
Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams, Anchrum has played in 31 career games, including one start. He was part of the Rams’ roster during their Super Bowl LIV appearance and has since spent time with multiple teams, including the Seahawks and Saints.
Now, he finds a new opportunity in Kansas City, joining a perennial contender that values experienced depth along the offensive line.
Anchrum‘s addition gives the Chiefs another option for interior line depth as the team continues to refine its roster ahead of training camp. His versatility and NFL experience could prove valuable in a backup role, especially if injuries hit the offensive front during the season.
Ingram lands on IR after brief stint with Chiefs
In a corresponding move, the Chiefs placed running back Keaontay Ingram on injured reserve after he cleared waivers. Ingram joined Kansas City’s practice squad in November 2023 and was elevated to the active roster for one game during the season.
Prior to that, he was a sixth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2022 and logged 62 carries for 134 yards and one touchdown in 20 appearances over two seasons.
Ingram’s placement on IR means he will not be available for the start of the 2025 season unless released with an injury settlement or designated to return later.
