Chiefs, Bengals, and Cowboys: The plan to resurface in 2026

The Kansas City Chiefs will miss the postseason for the first time since 2014. The Cincinnati Bengals will waste another year of Joe Burrow’s immense talent. And the Dallas Cowboys will add a chapter of frustration for their fans, a list that stretches to 30 years.

Patrick Mahomes and the Bengals have suffered from a lack of talent along the offensive line, a deficiency that has dragged them into forgettable seasons. In Prescott’s case, that has not been the issue. He has elite receivers in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens; however, his defense has proven to be paper-thin.

Kansas City and Cincinnati are already eliminated from playoff contention. For the Cowboys, it would take a miracle to enter the title conversation.

The resurgence of the Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones must do a great deal to return the franchise to legitimate Super Bowl contention. He parted ways with Micah Parsons and brought in Quinnen Williams, who helped make the defense more competitive, but that alone is not enough.

With Parsons now in Green Bay, the Cowboys have the flexibility to add players to the roster. They rank 32nd in projected cap space for 2026, according to Spotrac, with a figure of minus 36 million dollars.

If they decide to release Trevon Diggs and Terence Steele, they would free up money for negotiations.

The Kansas City Chiefs need to inject youth into the roster

Time has caught up with the Chiefs. Many of their key players have aged, carrying the wear of years, hits, and injuries.

The entire weight of the offense continues to fall on Patrick Mahomes, who is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL against the Chargers in Week 15 on Sunday, December 14.

Neither Xavier Worthy nor Rashee Rice has become the type of player capable of carrying the team, standing out more for inconsistency than for game-changing plays.

Defensive backs have been attacked relentlessly, often to the benefit of opponents. A renewal of the secondary has become essential.

A better offensive line for Joe Burrow and defensive upgrades for the Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals suffered this year from Joe Burrow’s early injury and the inconsistency of Tee Higgins. The offensive line is practically nonexistent, allowing constant pressure that has affected the quarterback.

On defense, the need for a rebuild is undeniable. Recent draft selections have been poor and far from offering real solutions.

According to Spotrac, the Bengals are projected to have more than 110 million dollars in cap space, allowing them to pursue high level talent and return to the league’s upper tier.

After missing out for three consecutive years, it is time to renovate the house entirely.
