The NFL season is slowly but surely nearing, which means position battles are in full swing and teams are seeing exactly what strengths and weaknesses their squads have. For the Kansas City Chiefs, there aren’t many battles to speak of, and Andy Reid’s coaching staff knows what they have at every position. They also know what they need to happen in order to get back to the Super Bowl.

The offensive line, which was re-tooled in the offseason, must protect Patrick Mahomes. They also need their wide receivers to stay healthy. There aren’t too many new faces at pass-catcher, with Travis Kelce and Hollywood Brown returning to join the electric Hollywood Brown. While those players are enough to have Mahomes playing his best, getting Rashee Rice back and healthy could be the key to Kansas City’s season. And they got incredible news on Thursday.

Rashee Rice and Josh Simmons to be full participants to begin Chiefs training camp

Reid gave Chiefs fans plenty to be excited about, as he announced that Rice is going to be a full. participant once the team begins training camp on July 21.

To make the news even better, first round rookie Josh Simmons is also expected to be a full participant. Simmons, an offensive tackle out of Ohio State, tore his patellar tendon midway through the 2024 college football season.

Simmons and Rice may both be brought along slowly due to the nature of their injuries, particularly the offensive tackle, but it’s great news for Mahomes. The ninth-year quarterback had one of his worst NFL seasons in 2024. Getting Mahomes back to his very best would make the Chiefs the Super Bowl favorites, and having both Rice and SImmons healthy is crucial for that.
