Charlie Woods, son of golf legend Tiger Woods, continues to carve out his own legacy in junior golf. The 16-year-old added another spectacular moment to his young career over the weekend by sinking a hole-in-one during the final round of the Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
It marked his second ace in less than a year, a rare accomplishment for any golfer, let alone a teenager.
The shot came on the par-3 third hole, a 177-yard challenge on the famed Stadium Course. Starting his round on the back nine, Woods had played 11 holes before arriving at the third. Using an iron, he delivered a clean strike that tracked toward the pin and dropped into the hole.
Spectators around the green were the first to react, and moments later, Woods and his fellow players joined in celebration once they realized what had happened.
The ace briefly shifted momentum in Woods’ round, although a double bogey followed shortly after. Still, he managed to regain control of his game and finished the day with an even-par 72. Combined with earlier rounds of 76 and 75, Woods concluded the tournament at 7-over par.
A breakout year for the rising star
This recent ace mirrors a moment of brilliance from December 2024, when Charlie recorded his first hole-in-one during the PNC Championship while playing alongside his father. On that occasion, he used a 7-iron to sink a 174-yard shot on the par-3 fourth hole at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.
“It was a perfect 7-iron, so I just kind of hit it… little cut 7,” he said after the round. “I didn’t think it went in. I don’t believe anybody until I go up there and see it.”
Since that memorable December shot, Charlie has been riding a wave of momentum. He clinched his first American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) title in May at the Team TaylorMade Invitational, a significant milestone in his competitive career. More recently, he finished in the top 10 at the Junior PGA Championship, continuing to prove himself against some of the country’s best junior golfers.
While his final placement at the Junior Players Championship wasn’t at the top of the leaderboard, the hole-in-one stole the spotlight. The event, played at one of the most iconic venues in the country, added another line to an already impressive résumé.
With two aces in under a year and consistent showings on the junior circuit, Charlie Woods is no longer just Tiger’s son, he’s a rising star in his own right.
