Chad Johnson encourages Jerry Jones to sign Mahomes’ former partner but Shannon Sharpe wakes him from his slumber

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson calls for the Dallas Cowboys to sign Tyreek Hill amid reports the Miami Dolphins star could be keen to leave the Hard Rock Stadium, but not everyone agrees.

The 30-year-old dramatically said he wants to quit to compete for championships at the end of a 2024/25 NFL season that saw the Floridian side slump to a negative record and five games behind the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.

The side missed out on the NFL Playoffs, meaning Hill is now six years past his last Super Bowl title, which came with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2019.

So with the man nicknamed Cheetah for his fearsome speed looking for new pastures, and the Cowboys looking to freshen up an offense that struggled last time out, are they a match made in heaven? Johnson believes so.

If you want things to change, you’ve got to do things you’ve never done before,” Johnson told the Nightcap Podcast. “Maybe Jerry [Jones] might do something he’s never done before.

“Tyreek Hill from the Dolphins to the Cowboys, who says no?”

However, Shannon Sharpe, the three-time Super Bowl champion with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens, isn’t on the same hype train as his 47-year-old colleague.

“That man wouldn’t spend $8 million for Derrick Henry,” Sharpe remarked of Jones. “Do you think he’s going to spend $30 million for Tyreek?

“You think that man is going to spend $30 million on a receiver?”

Where could Tyreek Hill go to?

Hill, still one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL, produced 959 receiving yards in 2024/25 for six touchdowns in his lowest output since 2019, when he left the Arrowhead Stadium to establish himself.

However, looking to a year before, you can see the damage he’s capable of doing to defenses across the league as he made 1799 yards for 13 touchdowns and became the WR1 ahead of Ja’Marr Chase.

Still a desirable target, he could link up with the New England Patriots as they bid to find an elite-class receiver for Drake Maye, whilst other destinations could include the Los Angeles Chargers or Chicago Bears; now under the leadership of Ben Johnson.
