CeeDee Lamb takes blame after costly drops in Cowboys’ loss to Eagles

CeeDee Lamb should have been the difference-maker Thursday night, but instead the Dallas Cowboys wideout walked off the field knowing he had let critical opportunities slip away.

In the 27-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Lamb recorded seven receptions for 110 yards but also dropped four passes, two of them on a crucial fourth-quarter drive that could have swung the game.

Afterward, the Pro Bowl receiver didn’t deflect responsibility. He shouldered it.

“That’s terrible,” Lamb said. “Honestly, I can’t point the finger at anybody else. I take full accountability and everything else that comes with it. Because as a player, I train for moments like that and the ball to come my way. For me to not come up with it, it stings. But if you think I’m not coming back harder than this, you’ve got another thing coming.”

Film session promises to sting

Lamb admitted he’ll have to relive the miscues during film review, a process he already knows will be painful.

“I’m definitely gonna look at this film and dread every drop, that’s for sure,” he said. “I need to catch the damn ball.”

Despite being evaluated in the medical tent after his final drop, Lamb confirmed he wasn’t hurt. “All is well,” he explained. “They made me come to the tent.”

A productive night overshadowed

Statistically, Lamb still led all receivers on the field, finishing with more than 100 yards. But the numbers felt hollow given the context of his missed chances. His drops stalled drives and robbed the Cowboys of potential scoring opportunities in a game decided by one possession.

While the performance will linger for Lamb, his teammates and coaches have little doubt about his ability to rebound. The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the NFL’s elite receivers, and his willingness to publicly accept blame only reinforces his leadership role.

For the Cowboys, the loss to a division rival stings, and Lamb‘s drops will be replayed and dissected in the coming days. But for the receiver himself, the setback appears to have already lit a fire.

“I train for moments like that,” Lamb said. “It stings, but I’ll be back. Harder than this.”
