Casemiro will say goodbye to Manchester United after four years at Old Trafford

Casemiro’s time at Manchester United will come to an end this summer. Four years after his arrival at Old Trafford, the English club and the Brazilian midfielder officially confirmed that the relationship will not continue beyond the end of the season. The former Real Madrid player will leave the club as a free agent, bringing to an end a spell marked by collective ups and downs and personal highlights.

Through an emotional letter, Casemiro expressed his feelings after the announcement. “I will carry Manchester United with me all my life,” wrote the 33-year-old midfielder, who remarked on the strong bond he has built with the club and its fans from day one.

A cycle with titles and leadership in an unstable United

Since his arrival at United, Casemiro played 146 official matches and scored 21 goals, important figures for a defensive midfielder. During his time at the Manchester club, the Brazilian was one of the leadership voices in the dressing room and lifted two domestic titles: the FA Cup and the League Cup, in the midst of a period of sporting transition for one of the giants of English football.

The collective context, however, has been uneven. Manchester United is going through a turbulent period at both institutional and sporting level, currently under the management of Michael Carrick, a former player of the club. Despite the changes, Casemiro remained a key player within the team, both for his experience and his international stature.

Casemiro’s message and pending objectives

In the official statement, the midfielder made it clear that his departure is not immediate. “From the very first day I walked into this special stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and, most importantly, the love that we now share for this football club,” he said. He also stressed that there are still goals to be achieved in the coming months: “It is not the time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create over the next four months.”

Casemiro also pointed to the team’s competitive present. Manchester United is in fifth place in the Premier League, just one point away from the Champions League qualification zone, a priority objective for the Red Devils. The possibility that England will have five places in the 2026-27 Champions League keeps European hopes alive.

An open future for the Brazilian

With early elimination in the national cups, continental qualification has become the remaining challenge of the season. Casemiro, true to his style, said that he will give his all until the last game to help the club achieve that goal.

Looking ahead, the Brazilian will be free to evaluate which sporting project best suits the final stretch of his career. With experience at the top level in Europe and an enviable track record, Casemiro will leave Manchester United having made his mark, as the club begins a new era without one of its recent stalwarts.
