“Borges has played at his level, which is very high. He has a lot of talent. I could have played better. I made mistakes that I shouldn’t have made.”
Routines before matches.: “Everytime that I’m travelling I miss my food, it doesn’t mean here is bad, here in Australia they have really good food as well, but Spanish food for me is almost the best one if not the best, so I’m just going there every day, in the morning before matches, I got my Spanish omelette, that bring me a lot of energy so. It’s kind of same as last year, I kept my energy in that restaurant.”
Advice to young players like Fonseca or Tien: “I don’t know what I can tell them because I’m only 21 years old. My advice is not to beat me.”
Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, moved into the last 16 of the Australian Open by winning against Portuguese Nuno Borges 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-2 at Melbourne Park on Friday night.
Alcaraz, ranked No 3, will play the winner of the match between No 15 seed Jack Draper and Australian Aleksandar Vukic next.
