Canelo breaks his silence and wants revenge with Crawford

Canelo Alvarez has broken his silence on TV Azteca and according to the network he already has his plans decided for 2026. Although no interview has yet been broadcast, the channel shows images of the fighter’s visit to its facilities and hints that the Mexican’s priority is a rematch with Terence Crawford, and also indicates that negotiations are already underway. In September, Bud defeated Canelo, taking away the Mexican fighter’s four super middleweight belts.

Thanks to this triumph, Crawford became the first boxer to be undisputed champion in three divisions in the four-belt era. Most notably, the Omaha fighter came out on top after an authoritative victory – despite the seemingly close unanimous decision – against an all-time great boxer like Canelo and after being forced to move up two divisions.

Canelo is currently recovering from surgery on his left elbow, which he underwent in October, and because of this a rematch probably could not take place in May and would have to wait until September or the end of next year. Few would now give Canelo a chance of victory, especially when he was the favorite going into the previous fight and came out clearly defeated. However, it seems that the Mexican is eager to turn the story around for the sake of reputation, legacy and pride

As for Crawford, he has yet to decide what his next step will be and has not commented publicly on a possible rematch with Alvarez. He has hinted from retirement to the fact that he may move up to middleweight to try to reign in a sixth category and thus increase his record, and even be undisputed in a fourth division.
