The countdown to the start of the 2026 World Cup is ticking faster and faster and while the whole soccer world is looking forward to it, there are people from other sports who also want to be part of this great festival that brings together the best national teams in the world in search of maximum glory.

With Mexico as one of the hosts, one athlete who has wanted to be present in the organization is boxer Canelo Alvarez, who has played a very important role, but until now had gone more unnoticed and without so much attention.

Canelo Alvarez’s important role for the 2026 World Cup

According to information reported by Gibran Araige and Mafer Alonso of TUDN, Canelo Alvarez has put large sums of money out of his own pocket to help improve the transportation system in the city of Guadalajara, one of Mexico’s major World Cup venues that is preparing to welcome thousands of fans in June next year.

TUDN explained that “what is being remodeled is the whole city, the entrance from the airport to the city, La Minerva is being made more beautiful than usual. And Canelo is investing so that Mexico has much more optimal, new and safe public transport for the World Cup, part of what is being fixed.”

Canelo’s help has been very well received and without expecting anything in return, when it all became public, his followers applauded the gesture and appreciated the fact of putting part of his money so that the World Cup party is a resounding success.

Mexico with more doubts than certainties for the World Cup

It seems that everyone is doing their part to make Mexico a great host for the 2026 World Cup, however, the national team, the main protagonist, is not helping much, as they were recently thrashed by Colombia in a friendly that serves as preparation for the World Cup.

Last Saturday, October 11, Mexico fell four goals to nil against Colombia, in what was a forgettable performance that continues to leave doubts about the national team for the next World Cup. Fans are upset with this latest result and hope that things will improve, as there is still time and room for improvement, considering that there are still several months to go before the start of the World Cup
