The highly anticipated showdown between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford ended with Crawford emerging as the clear victor, thanks to a calm, calculated strategy that focused on precision and close-range exchanges. Throughout the fight, Crawford delivered punishing shots to the Mexican star, dominating round after round. However, even the victorious fighter faced a moment of uncertainty when he suffered an accidental headbutt from Canelo that temporarily threatened to derail his performance.

In the immediate aftermath of the clash, Crawford needed medical attention to determine whether the injury was serious enough to affect the outcome of the fight. While the accidental blow was not part of any strategy, it caused enough concern to briefly pause the action and left Crawford with a visible cut.

From the opening bell, Crawford showcased his superiority. His relentless combinations and technical precision kept Canelo on the defensive, forcing the Mexican champion to rely on occasional power punches that failed to slow his rival. Canelo did land several solid shots, but they seemed to have little effect on Crawford, who demonstrated remarkable resilience and conditioning throughout the bout.

The incident occurred during the ninth round. As the fighters exchanged blows in close quarters, Canelo’s head collided with Crawford’s, opening a cut above the American’s right eyebrow. The referee immediately halted the fight to inspect the injury and ensure it was safe for Crawford to continue.

Medical attention for Crawford

After the fight, Crawford revealed the extent of the damage. The cut required stitches, and he openly discussed the incident with reporters.

I got head-butted. I got a cut. I got all these stitches. You didn’t see it?” he said with a mix of humor and frustration. “Oh! Yeah, he head-butted me, so I gotta get stitches after this.

Despite the injury scare, Crawford never lost focus. His performance silenced critics who had questioned his credentials and dismissed his record, suggesting he had only faced “nobodies” leading up to this monumental clash with Canelo.

Anybody can beat a nobody. Like I said, you know. And that’s all they; I’ve been fighting these nobodies. So what can they say now?” he declared, before adding with a chuckle, “Somebody tell me what can you say now… Any words?

Crawford proves his worth, questions linger about a rematch

Crawford’s victory firmly established him as the superior fighter on this night, leaving Canelo visibly frustrated and unable to mount a serious comeback. The accidental headbutt, while painful, was ultimately a minor obstacle. After receiving stitches and undergoing a medical evaluation, Crawford confirmed that the injury was not serious and that he was in good health.

With this emphatic win, Crawford has strengthened the legitimacy of his record and reputation. The lingering question now is whether fans will see a rematch or if this bout marks the definitive conclusion of their rivalry. The boxing world will be watching closely in the coming days to see what comes next.
