David Benavidez’s insistence on convincing Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to fight him has not borne fruit and the boxing world points out that the Mexican is evading his mandatory challenger for the WBC super middleweight belt, among them boxer Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade, who believes it is because the Guadalajara native knows he has no options to beat the Arizona native.
‘Boo Boo’ Andrade was knocked out by David Benavidez in November 2023 in the sixth round and in an interview with Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV he said he does not blame Canelo for not wanting to fight ‘The Mexican Monster’, as he considered that it is because he knows he has no chance of beating him.
“I don’t think Canelo beats David. I don’t blame him (for not fighting) David,” said Boo Boo, who explained that he is taller and longer than Saul Alvarez, and failed to overcome the difference with the physique of Red Flag: “I was able to push David for a couple of rounds, do what I had to do, whatever, but that weight and his length, and he knows how to throw punches and clusters, it’s going to be a tough task for Canelo.”
David Benavidez believes Canelo is afraid of him
Canelo Alvarez’s response to the challenge from David Benavidez has been that if there is an attractive purse involved he would accept the fight and even demanded $200 million, but in an interview with Boxing Scene, ‘The Mexican Monster’ dismissed that the reason for not fighting him is not the money and is because he feels he can not beat him
“It’s because he knows he has no confidence in himself,” Benavidez said, adding that despite all of Canelo’s rejections, “whenever that fight happens, I’ll be ready to go in and win that fight.”
