Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2) suffered the third defeat of his career at the hands of a superior Terence Crawford, who stripped him of all his super middleweight titles.
After 12 rounds at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the Omaha, Nebraska fighter won by unanimous decision 116-112 and 115-113 on two scorecards to become the new undisputed super middleweight champion.

After the decision, Saul Alvarez recognized the triumph of Bud Crawford (42-0) and downplayed the defeat and the fall of his reign.
“I’m here to take risks, that’s what I came here for, my legacy is there and I’ll stay here. I’m happy to share the ring with great fighters like him, I’ve achieved a lot in boxing and I’ve taken the risks. I feel good, I feel strong, Crawford was a great fighter, but I feel the same as always.
A defeat does not define me, I have already won.
“I’m happy, it was a great night for me, my career will continue, I’m happy for everything that happened tonight. It was a great fight, everyone saw it, I prepared well and we came out winners. The strategy was worked out like that, we did what was planned,” said the Mexican.
Will there be a rematch between Saul Alvarez and Terence Crawford?
Canelo mentioned after his setback that if there is a second fight against Crawford he would be willing to face him, but he did not seem very convinced in his desire for a rematch.
