Canelo Alvarez looked exhausted, he shouldn’t have fought Crawford

It is well known that Terence Crawford’s victory over Canelo Alvarez was one of the most shocking in recent times, however, much of the post-fight analysis focused on Crawford’s brilliance, who demonstrated surgical precision and remarkable stamina despite moving up two weight classes. Despite this, Angel Garcia, the combative father and trainer of Danny Garcia, has offered a different and much more critical perspective on the Mexican boxer’s performance, suggesting that Canelo’s problem was not only the skill of his opponent.

Many analysts and fans have spoken highly of Crawford’s performance and the great fight he had, which led to a long celebration by the American, who was praised from all over the world. However, there are those who also talk about how low Canelo was and according to Garcia, this has a logical explanation.

Angel Garcia’s analysis of Canelo’s defeat

According to Angel Garcia, Canelo’s performance against Crawford was due to deep exhaustion. “Canelo looked burnt out,” Garcia told FightHype, noting that the recent volume of fights, including three bouts in a single year, could be taking a physical toll. “That’s a lot for his record and the time he’s been active,” he added.

Alvarez, 35, began his professional career at 15, accumulating two decades of punishment in the ring. Garcia emphasized that the particularly brutal battles he has had with opponents such as Gennadiy Golovkin, who hit Canelo with devastating blows to the head, have left their mark. With Alvarez now preparing for elbow surgery, Garcia believes the boxer was simply not in optimal condition to face a talent like Crawford.

With his characteristic direct style, Garcia concluded that while Canelo was “smart” to avoid David Benavidez, he should have applied the same tactical wisdom with Crawford. “Should he have been smart with Terence Crawford? He shouldn’t have fought Terence Crawford,” the trainer said.

Is there a rival for Terence Crawford after the victory over Canelo?

There has been much speculation about what is next for Terence Crawford after his big win over Canelo, but there is still nothing certain about his next opponent.

However, if there is anyone with a voice in boxing, it is Eddie Hearn, who commented on who could be the ideal opponent for Crawford. In an interview with TMZ Sports, the promoter said that Jaron “Boots” Ennis is the one who can beat Crawford. “He will be the number one pound-for-pound in the sport for the next four, five or six years,” explained Hearn, who has already installed a new debate on the table.
