With the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight just under two months away, promotion for the event has really ramped up. Last week, both fighters did their part, using press conferences and media scrums to hype up some storylines for the bout.

What initially began as a respectful relationship between the two boxers has now devolved into more of a spiteful situation. Both fighters have called the other out, with Alvarez questioning Crawford’s resume and “Bud” not backing down in any capacity. That has created an intriguing narrative around the fight, and it has brought up questions about Alvarez’s behavior towards his opponents.

Canelo Alvarez says “I don’t give a f**k” about his opponents

Following the final press conference before fight week, Alvarez was asked by a reporter if he “generally likes or dislikes” his opponents. Canelo’s response was vintage: “Generally, I don’t give a f**k“.

The reporters who were present burst out in laughter, and even Canelo himself couldn’t help but smirk at what he said.

His sentiment has been made clear by how he’s treated Crawford, particularly over the past two weeks. Whether the Mexican is just trying to build more interest in the fight, he’s done his part to create a sense of hostility between him and Crawford. If he cares about his opponent, he’s not making it seem like he does; which, in essence, is the whole point of promoting a fight this big.
