One of the most anticipated fights in recent boxing history is now just three months away. On September 13 in Las Vegas, Canelo Alvarez will once again invite greatness into the ring, as Terence “Bud” Crawford steps up two weight classes to try to pull off an incredible feat. With world title belts and legacies on the line, it’s sure to be a spectacle.
We’ve known the date and location for a while, but it was a doubt who would be broadcasting the event. Given the magnitude of the bout, this was one of the most important aspects of the fight. Canelo and Crawford’s fights have generally been PPV events, but the two are taking a page out of Jake Paul‘s playbook for this one.
Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford to be streamed on Netflix
On Tuesday, it was officially announced that Netflix will be showing the fight globally. It’s a massive decision that should see more fans tune in than a normal pay-per-view broadcast.

It must be said that Paul paved the way for this to happen. Netflix has been growing in the live sports space for the past couple of years, but Paul’s fight against Mike Tyson broke records, becoming the “most-streamed sporting event ever” according to Netflix.
It’s fair to wonder if Canelo-Crawford will be able to hit similar numbers. There was a bit of mystique when it came to Tyson-Paul, as many wanted to see Tyson knock out Paul, while others just wanted to see how a 58-year-old Tyson would fare. Ultimately, it was a boring fight and Netflix had some technical issues. Netflix will be hoping neither of those applies to Canelo-Crawford.
