Last Thursday, September 4, Indiana Fever announced that Caitlin Clark will be out for the rest of the year.

This way, the team adds 5 players to end this season, along with Sophie Cunningham, Chloe Bibby, Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson.

Candace Parker on the loss of CC

The former Iowa player’s second year in the WNBA has been interrupted by injuries, both the left quadriceps strain – which kept her out of the game for five games – and her groin injury prior to the All-Star Game.

With only 13 games played this year, the team decided to cut her even before qualifying for the Playoffs for the second consecutive time.

And it was this situation that Candace Parker discussed in “Post Moves with Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston“, co-hosted by Caitlin’s partner at Fever. During the chat, the Chicago Sky and Los Angeles Sparks legend explained why she believed this was the right decision and why it made her ‘proud’:

She had never missed a game in her collegiate career. I’m proud of this generation for taking the time they need, looking at the bigger picture and making sure they get healthy.

The truth is that this year has been the only one in which Clark has put her career on hold due to injuries. He averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals.

Indiana made use of emergency contracts, rebounded from injuries and absences and managed to qualify for the WNBA Playoffs under Stephanie White, in her first year at the helm.

Meanwhile, Indiana has just won the last game of its schedule against the Minnesota Lynx, and awaits an opponent to start its road to the WNBA Playoffs, scheduled for September 14. They could face either the Las Vegas Aces or Atlanta Dream.
