Alphonso Davies’ injury has sparked controversy between Bayern Munich and the Canadian FA after recent statements by the player’s agent, Nedal Househ

The left-back’s representative blamed the Canadian federation and Jesse Marsch for forcing Davies to play for Canada against Mexico and the United States in the CONCACAF Nations League, also pointing out that the coach had to “manage the situation better”.

In response to Housej’s statements, Paulo Senra, spokesman for the Canadian Federation, denied any responsibility for the captain’s injury and wished him a speedy recovery.

“Anything that suggests or points in another direction is simply not true. We want to express our full support for Alphonso Davies as he recovers from this unfortunate injury. But Fonzie’s strength and resilience is matched by his world-class talent, and we will fully support him in his fight to get back on the pitch,” Senra told The Athletic.

“The coaches and experienced medical team are true professionals and have always prioritised the health and safety of the players,” added the manager.

Alphonso Davies has said goodbye to the current season and the Club World Cup after suffering an injury that will keep him off the pitch for several months.
