Can Kyle Schwarber take the MVP away from Shohei Ohtani? It’s possible if he continues to keep up this pace with the Philadelphia Phillies

At the start of the season, it was hard to imagine any player mounting a campaign to challenge the MVP award seemingly destined for Shohei Ohtani, but as time and the season progress, everything has changed. Kyle Schwarber is a player with enough caliber to defy the odds, especially if he continues hitting the way he has for the Philadelphia Phillies.

While all the spotlight is on the Japanese star, the Phillies‘ designated hitter cannot go unnoticed.

Kyle Schwarber’s numbers to challenge the Ohtani phenomenon

Currently, “Scharbomb” has one more home run than Shohei Ohtani, with 40, and leads all of Major League Baseball with 94 RBIs. He could reach 100 RBIs this very week. At this moment, it’s fair to say no one has been more critical than Schwarber to the Phillies, who are fighting their own battle to win the division with the Mets lurking. Plus, he’s just one year away from free agency.

In Philadelphia, he has hit 40 or more home runs in three of his four seasons, but what stands out most is his ability to challenge names like Ohtani and Aaron Judge, now joined by Cal Raleigh, who leads with 42 home runs.

The Philadelphia Phillies player also stole the show at the All-Star Game in Atlanta, earning the MVP, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he claimed another, this time for the regular season.

Under these circumstances, it seems unthinkable that the Chicago Cubs didn’t retain Schwarber after the 2020 season, or that the Red Sox let him go after 2021. It would be shocking if the Phillies don’t keep him.

He’s a true star for the Phillies, and now he’s aiming to lead the team to a World Series title, just as he did with the Chicago Cubs in 2016.

The player is making his own case for the National League MVP, and now it’s just a matter of seeing if he can maintain his pace and snatch the award from Ohtani.
