Cameron Brink opens up about her injury and how her life has changed in 389 days

Cameron Brink entered the WNBA with high expectations and plenty of praise. She was the second overall pick in the 2024 Draft and was ready to shine with the Los Angeles Sparks.

But one wrong move was all it took for her season-and her Olympic dreams-to come crashing down. On June 18, 2024, during a game against the Connecticut Sun, a seemingly simple layup ended in a knee twist, immediate pain, and the start of a nightmare.

She tore her left ACL and meniscus. She had only been on the court for four minutes. Her teammates rushed to help as the arena fell silent. That moment didn’t just alter her career-it changed her life.

Sparks confirm her return to the court

For months, the same question lingered: When will Cameron Brink return? Rumors, speculation, training videos… but no clear timeline. Until now. Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts has finally confirmed that Brink will return before the end of July.

The news was reported by The Underdog WNBA on X (formerly Twitter), citing journalist John W. Davis. Brink has been quietly putting in the work-non-contact drills, gradual progression-and is building her rhythm back. ESPN had already hinted at a possible return before the All-Star Game, and now it looks like it’s only a matter of days.

Brink speaks honestly about her injury

During a recent appearance on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, Brink spoke candidly about her ordeal:

“I tore my ACL and meniscus, but everything’s been surgically repaired,” she said without hesitation. “It’ll just take a couple of months to fully recover.”

Since then, she’s been seen training, doing skeleton drills, and proving her comeback is real. Averaging 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds before the injury, her impact on the team was clear. And now, with the Sparks struggling (just 6 wins in 20 games), her return could provide the spark they desperately need.

Can Brink make a difference for the Sparks?

While Kelsey Plum, Azurá Stevens, and Dearica Hamby have stepped up, the locker room still feels Brink’s absence. There are games left to play, and even if the playoffs seem distant, her return could be the turning point the team is hoping for.

The challenge is big, but Brink has always shown up when it matters most. Her presence on the court goes beyond talent-she brings energy, leadership, and heart.

Cameron Brink on how her life has changed

Cameron Brink’s life hasn’t just changed on the court. Last September, her boyfriend-and former Stanford teammate-Ben Felter proposed to her at the Eiffel Tower. Brink shared the moment on social media, drawing warm congratulations from Angel Reese, Rickea Jackson, and many other WNBA peers.

And in a surprising confession during Sue Bird’s podcast, Brink revealed something unexpected. While joking around with Dearica Hamby, she suddenly said: “I want a baby.” Hamby burst out laughing and replied, “Girl! Cut the cameras!”
