Cameron Brink had a Stanford throwback moment when she almost celebrated with her now opponent, Lexie Hull

They say muscle memory is powerful, and Cameron Brink proved it during a WNBA matchup that gave fans a rare dose of nostalgia. Instead of looking “glitched,” the forward flashed back to her Stanford days in a way that instantly stole the spotlight. For those who remember the bond she once shared with Lexie Hull, it was like stepping back in time-only this time, the two weren’t teammates, but rivals.

From teammates to rivals, but habits die hard

Brink and Hull played two years together at Stanford, winning an NCAA championship in 2021 and building a bond that carried them through countless celebrations. That connection resurfaced on Friday when Brink instinctively moved in to high-five Hull, who had her hand raised with her Indiana Fever teammates.

Realizing the mix-up, Brink broke into laughter, and Hull, fully in on the joke, couldn’t help but smile too. The lighthearted moment immediately went viral, turning a competitive night into a nostalgic flashback for fans and players alike.

The game itself was no small affair. Indiana pulled off a nail-biting 76-75 victory, with Hull making her mark in the starting lineup-five points, five rebounds, four assists, plus two steals and two blocks. Brink, still working her way back to full strength, came off the bench and contributed four points, five rebounds, a steal, and two blocks across 17 minutes. The numbers might not tell the full story, but her instinctive high-five became the real highlight.

Fans loved the nostalgia, even in a tense game

For those watching, the moment was both hilarious and heartwarming. Some joked that Brink had been away from the court so long she forgot she and Hull no longer wore the same jersey. Others saw it as proof that the friendships and bonds built in college hoops are nearly impossible to erase, even under the bright lights of the WNBA. Brink herself couldn’t hide a giggle once she realized what happened, and Hull matched it with her own grin-two old teammates sharing a quick memory before locking back in as competitors.

But while the throwback drew plenty of laughs, the game carried serious weight for Indiana. The Fever’s win gave them a crucial boost in the playoff race, solidifying their hold on sixth place and pushing their cushion over the Sparks to three games. For Hull and company, every win matters now, and this one came with both entertainment value and postseason implications.

Sparks left searching, fever keep climbing

On the other side, the Sparks suffered a tough blow. The loss dropped them two games behind the Golden State Valkyries for the final playoff spot, with only seven regular-season games left to turn things around. Every possession will matter from here on out if L.A. wants to claw its way back into contention.

Even so, Brink’s flashback moment stole the night in a way stats can’t measure. It reminded fans that basketball isn’t just about wins and losses-it’s about the relationships, the memories, and the instincts that never fade. For a second, Stanford was alive again, and everyone watching got to relive it.
