Cam Ward has showed why NFL analysts and fans believe that he could be the leader the Tennessee Titans need in order to win their first Vince Lombardy Trophy.
The No. 1 overall pick in the latest Draft has put in the work during the offseason to be the franchise’s starter on Week 1 of the regular season, when the team will face the Denver Broncos on the road.
Ward has showed determination, discipline, and a lot of improvement along the way, one of the reasons why the Titans fanbase has began to fall in love with the former Miami Hurricanes standout. Cam‘s has been impressive so far, from his play to his maturity and his leadership.
Cam Ward takes a shot at Travis Hunter
Cam Ward made headlines by calling Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley “one of one” in a recent interview that was posted on the quarterback’s Instagram page, sparking buzz about whether it was more than just praise to a teammate.
“That boy there? He’s different. How he move, everything. That’s what I like to see of what a receiver supposed to be like, that’s why I’m playing like Elic Ayomanor, Chim Dike, Xavier Restrepo, Bryce Oliver, all the guys in our room, I’m glad they got him because I have never thrown to no receiver like him or that moves like him,” Ward said.
Ward‘s choice to elevate Ridley now has some fans wondering if it was a subtle jab at Travis Hunter‘s potential. The two-way star taken right after Cam at No. 2 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, is viewed by some as an electric wide reeiver that could become elite. In order to do so, Travis and the rest of the Jags will have to beat the Titans, their rival in the AFC South Division. The two exciting rookies will have two opportunities, during week 13 and week 18.
Who would be Cam Ward’s backup?
While there’s no doubt that Cam Ward will be the Titans‘ starting quarterback during the 2025 NFL regular season, the team will need to determine who’s going to be the backup to their franchise player. The battle will be between Brandon Allen, Tim Boyle, and Will Levis.
The 32-year-old Allen has appeared in 18 games, with 10 starts, in his career, and he’s completed 166-of-299 passes for 1,810 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions, with a passer rating of 76.2. Boyle is in line to get minimal work as he enters camp at the 4.
This time last year, Levis was the team’s unquestioned starter, and all eyes were on him at the start of training camp. With the addition of Ward, Levis has taken a backseat. But that doesn’t mean he’s given up in the competition, or that he’s hit cruise control. If Will is with the Titans in 2025, I think he’ll be the No.2.
