There was almost a universal consensus when it came to the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Most had Cam Ward as the best prospect at that position, with Shedeur Sanders right behind him. Sure, there were some who preferred Jaxson Dart to Sanders, but they were few and far between. So when Sanders fell all the way to the fifth round, it was a shock to anyone and everyone. The player who was neck-and-neck with Ward at one point in the draft process, was now an afterthought in the NFL.

That had analysts and fans going back into their evaluations, trying to find reasons for Sanders’ slide. The overarching thought was that Sanders gave off a vibe that was too cocky or brash for NFL front offices. But after more digging, many found that Sanders’ physical limitations is what spooked many teams. In contrast to Ward, Sanders simply doesn’t have the arm strength and zip on passes that many coaches look for in a franchise quarterback.

Cam Ward stuns fans with incredible throw at Titans practice

On Friday, a clip of Ward showing off that zip went viral, making clear the reason why Ward went No. 1 overall and Sanders didn’t.

Titans fans were obviously loving what they were seeing in the clip, but even national media members were eating up. The NFL is always more fun when it has several elite quarterbacks going toe-to-toe on a weekly basis.

If Ward can put it all together, he has the physical tools and intangibles to be one of the best in the league. It will come down to how he develops, but there’s on denying he’s already showing off his physical traits in early practices.
