Cam Ward argues with another Titans QB and shows how bad he wants to beat Shedeur Sanders

Cam Ward will be the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans against the Denver Broncos during Week 1 of the 2025 regular season.

The team is desperately in need of a franchise quarterback after finishing last season with a terrible 3-14 record, dead last in the AFC South.

The Houston Texans, who won the division last year, are stacked under C.J.Stroud‘s leadership. The Indianapolis Colts have young gunner Anthony Richardson and veteran Daniel Jones on their quarterback locker room, and the Jacksonville Jaguars count with Pro Bowler Trevor Lawrence. It’s up to Ward to make the Titans contenders in the division.

Cam Ward argues with another Titans QB

Cam Ward, who’s known for his very competitive spirit at all times on and off the field, had a heated argument with teammate Brandon Allen, who’s fighting for his chance to be the backup of the superstar quarterback for the 2025 regular season.

During a practice, the quarterbacks battle each other out in a accuracy and throwing contest, and Ward – who’s shown multiple times that he hates to lose – got into it with Allen over a change of rules that would have given each other points.

At the end, the former Miami Hurricanes superstar and Allen – 6’2, 209 pounds who has played in 18 career NFL games with 10 starts over nine seasons and completed 166 of 293 passes for 1,810 yards with 11 touchdowns – came to an agreement and finished the competitive drill. It’s another sign that Ward has a chip on his shoulder: show the world that, despite all the talking and media attention Shedeur Sanders gets on his journey with the Cleveland Browns, he’s the best quarterback of his class.

Ward has shown maturity and leadership

Jim Wyatt, senior writer/editor for the Tennessee Titans, wrote that he has liked everything he’s seen from the rookie quarterback Cam Ward, “from his play to his maturity to his leadership”, something the franchise needs for years to come.

Wyatt added that Cam has not been perfect, throwing three interceptions in the five open practices, and he occasionally dropped in a few f-bombs in interviews as a sign of fustration for not being able to play at his very best in every training session.

But Ward has been consistently good, going 65-of-96 (67.7%) in the 7-on-7 and team drills combined, and looks to be on a track to start in Week 1. Of course the quarterback will go through some growing pains and not everything will be perfect right out of the gate.
