The race to meet the next Home Run King continues with emotions running high, as Seattle Mariners’ sensation catcher Cal Raleigh has hit another home run to set his personal tally at 46 and remains the leader in that department to maintain a distance of three home runs against Shohei Ohtani (43), who did not hit a home run on this occasion.

Raleigh’s long-distance hit occurred in the top of the third inning when Seattle was trailing 3-2 to the New York Mets. However, his home run allowed him to take the lead by one run as his hit took Cuban-Mexican Randy Arozarena ahead. In this situation, Cal Raleigh has become the first player of the current season to reach 100 runs batted in.

Seattle’s comeback win over New York Mets

The Mariners had a tough night against the visiting New York team, but at the end of the nine innings, Seattle won 11-9 in a game where there were plenty of ups and downs on the scoreboard. The home team took the lead through Julio Rodriguez, who sent Arozarena to the plate in the first inning. Federico Lindor tied the game in the same early stages of the game, but Phil Garver restored Seattle’s lead. Lindor himself gave New York Mets the lead in the second inning (2-3). It was then that Cal Raleigh added another line to his home runs to make it 4-3.

It was in the fourth inning where Lindor once again made his presence felt on the scoreboard with a two-run home run and Juan Soto repeated the dose in the second New York turnaround (4-6) in the fourth inning. Earni Young pulled the Mariners closer in the same inning (5-6).

The “fateful” seventh inning was the highlight of the Seattle Mariners

It was in the seventh inning when the Mariners decided to put the suspense aside and through a 5-run rally they decided to put the score at 10 – 6 with 10 consecutive hits, none by home run, where they executed 4 doubles and two run-scoring singles. Meanwhile, four more hits did not cause any damage to the visitors.

This was the first game of the series between the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets, where on Saturday, August 16, the second game will take place with Bryan Woo on the mound for the home team, while the visitors will put Nolan McLean on the mound
