After 239 long days waiting to see her shining once again, Caitlin Clark is back in the spotlight. Despite not being in it for an outstanding performance or a late-time strike, the Indiana Fever star is gathering eyes and attention after her appearance on the latest chapter of “Battle of the Blimps.”
With the 2026 NCAA tournament approaching, Clark has officially joined Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, and Samuel L. Jackson in a promotional campaign made by Capital One, the company that sponsors the tournament. This collab marks a historic bridging of eras, placing the WNBA’s most marketable face alongside the titans of industries like the NBA or Hollywood.
A gathering of legends
The promo, 51 seconds long, features the group in the middle of a playful banter as their respective blimps race toward the Final Four. In one of the iconic moments of the video, Magic Johnson jokingly dubs Clark a triple threat, welcoming the new blood to a campaign that has traditionally belonged to Barkley and filmmaker Spike Lee.
During the shot of the promo, Clark said this:
“This is my first time meeting all three of them. They’re people I’ve watched on TV and admired. They’re really funny and make it easy to work with
Given her admiration for all of them, the chemistry was palpable. The veterans did not miss the opportunity either and made a bit of fun at the young star, following the tradition for every newcomer entering the iconic ad series.
Fans believe this will spark a wave of jealousy
Some fans believe that this will backfire her at some point, as she keeps getting new fans and detractors day by day. Those haters could use this against her, as she has awakened new feelings of jealousy in them and Clark is a figure of extreme dualism. People absolutely love her a lot or hate her so much, just for being who she is and for doing what she is doing with an underrated league like the WNBA.
Fans said things like this on social media, claiming that this new milestone will keep fueling the jealousy of her haters: “Annnnnnnnnnd this is why they hate her… because CC has the respect and admiration of legends and she’s making millions from endorsements”; “The jealousy quotient in the W will be going off the charts. No other W player could have pulled this off; she was the biggest star there.“
While fans might be buzzing about the “Battle of the Blimps,” the real deal begins when she steps back onto the court in Indianapolis. If the divine light of her sole presence is any indication, the 2026 season is poised to be her biggest yet. And we hope it is.
