Tyrese Haliburton returned to the place where it all began to make one of the plays that will mark him for the rest of his life: his marriage.
The rising star of the Indiana Pacers playoffs borrowed the Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena in Indianapolis, where he displays all his talent, to make his girlfriend of six years, Jade Jones, his wife.
With a display of illuminated signs spelling out “Will you marry me” and a path of roses, Haliburton knelt before the love of his life and proposed marriage.
The two-time NBA All-Star point guard later shared nine photos and a video on his official Instagram account with Jones, revealing the magic and authenticity of the moment and the moment she accepted with tears of happiness.
“The place where our story started, and where our next chapter begins,” Tyrese wrote, along with a heart emoji and a ring emoji.
Clark’s reaction
The post quickly went viral, and several teammates and personalities left comments congratulating them on their engagement. One of them was her best friend and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
CC not only liked the post, but was also enthusiastic about the news and commented: “WEDDING TIMEEEEE. LOVE YALL,” along with two smiling emojis with hearts.
In addition, Caitlin decided to share her friend’s joy and uploaded Haliburton’s post to her stories, along with a pink heart.
Tyrese and Jade’s love story
The couple began their relationship in 2019, when they met at Iowa State University. Since then, they have supported each other.
While she worked as an elementary school teacher, she also encouraged Haliburton’s professional career, even traveling to the 2024 Paris Olympics where she saw him win gold with the US team.
Their engagement comes as a relief from a difficult professional moment, where he had to leave the highly anticipated NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder in a wheelchair after suffering a torn Achilles tendon. After undergoing surgery, he is recovering but could be out for between eight months and a year. However, he knows he will have the support of his wife, as she has done throughout all these years.
