Caitlin Clark’s new goal in her new sport: Avoid hitting any fans

Caitlin Clark is gearing up to return to the golf course, but this time, her main objective has nothing to do with scorecards or swing mechanics. It’s simple: don’t hit anyone.

The Indiana Fever star will be back at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican on November 12, participating in the LPGA’s season-ending pro-am.

Last year’s event was a standout, drawing huge crowds and raising ticket prices dramatically-thanks in part to Clark‘s appearance. But one moment stood out for a different reason: a misfired tee shot that nearly struck a fan.

On Thursday, WNBA photographer Bri Lewerke posted throwback photos of Clark from last year’s event, showing her enjoying the moment and interacting with fans. Lewerke captioned the post, “Running it back with my favorite golfer again this year… see y’all at the @theannikalpga on Nov 12.”

Clark brings humor and star power to the LPGA event

Clark reposted the images to her Instagram Story with a lighthearted promise: “Will try not to hit anyone .”

The near-miss in 2024 ended with Clark personally apologizing to the fan and gifting them the ball as a souvenir. The moment became part of the charm of her debut on the golf stage.

This time, she’ll be playing alongside defending champion and world No. 1 Nelly Korda, who praised Clark‘s natural ability after last year’s outing. “She’s definitely very talented. She was picking the ball really clean,” Korda said, impressed by Clark‘s performance despite limited practice.

Golf legend Annika Sörenstam, host of the event, also welcomed her back enthusiastically: “Look forward to having Caitlin again! So much fun.”

While injuries limited Clark to just 13 games in the 2025 WNBA season, she’s expected to rejoin Team USA for FIBA World Cup training.

Until then, she’ll be taking her competitive spirit to the fairways, hopefully with fewer close calls.
