Caitlin Clark’s NBA2K rating raises doubts: three players are better than her

As the WNBA gears up for the 2025 season, anticipation has spiked with the release of NBA 2K’s latest player ratings, with few names generating more online buzz than Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.

The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year earned an impressive 96 overall rating, placing her fourth in the league, ahead of several established veterans and, notably, ahead of fellow 2024 rookie Angel Reese.

Only three players ranked higher than Clark: two-time MVP A’ja Wilson (98), Napheesa Collier (97), and Breanna Stewart (97). Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas rounded out the top five with a 94. Clark‘s presence in this elite group set social media ablaze, especially as fans noticed one name missing from the top rankings-Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese.

Online reactions highlight growing Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry

WNBA fans took to X to voice their takes, many turning the focus to the Clark-Reese dynamic that has captivated the basketball world since their college days.

“Angel Reese should be 99 wtf,” one fan posted.

Another pointed out: “Notice how angel reese isn’t here.”

Clark‘s rookie campaign certainly makes a strong case for her lofty rating. She averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists (leading the league), and 5.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 41.7 percent from the floor and 34.4 percent from beyond the arc. Her all-around play helped breathe new life into the Indiana Fever, who saw a noticeable rise in competitiveness and fan engagement throughout the 2024 season.

Her high rating is a nod not just to her stats, but also to her growing status as a franchise cornerstone and a marketing force in the league. On the other hand, Angel Reese, while also a key player and a strong rookie performer in her own right, didn’t break into the top 5 ratings, adding fuel to an already sizzling narrative.

Fittingly, fans won’t have to wait long to see this rivalry renewed on the court. Clark’s Fever will face Reese’s Chicago Sky in the season opener on May 17 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The game promises to be one of the most anticipated matchups of opening weekend, with both stars expected to play.
