Caitlin Clark is heading back to where it all began. The Indiana Fever star will return to Carver-Hawkeye Arena on May 4, 2025, for an exhibition game against the Brazilian National Team, giving Iowa fans a chance to see their beloved player in action once more.
The Iowa women’s basketball team announced the news on Instagram, sharing their excitement with a post that read: “CC in CHA Caitlin Clark & the Indiana Fever are coming to Carver-Hawkeye Arena! #Hawkeyes.” The message immediately sent fans into a frenzy, celebrating Clark’s long-awaited return.
A special moment for Clark and Iowa fans
Clark, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and named Rookie of the Year, didn’t hide her enthusiasm. She took to Instagram to post a three-word reaction: “LFGGGG.” While abbreviated, her excitement was clear, reflecting her eagerness to play again in front of the Iowa crowd.
This game will be Clark’s first appearance at Carver-Hawkeye since leading Iowa to a 64-54 victory over West Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in March 2024. The upcoming exhibition match is expected to draw thousands of passionate fans eager to see their hometown hero back on the court.
Honoring a legacy
Clark has remained deeply connected to Iowa even after turning pro. Earlier this season, she returned to her alma mater to watch her former team play. More significantly, Iowa honored her legacy by retiring her No. 22 jersey in a ceremony following a game against USC.
As part of the celebration, Clark also gave back to the community by donating $22,000 from her foundation to four Iowa charities, including the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and Special Olympics Iowa. “One of my favorite things about Iowa City is the way the community supports each other,” Clark said in a statement. “It’s important to me to stay connected.”
With her jersey now hanging in the rafters and her return to the court on the horizon, Clark’s homecoming promises to be an unforgettable moment for Iowa basketball fans. The countdown to May 4 has officially begun.
