Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has a knack for turning heads, both with her game and her footwear. Since her college days, Clark has been spotted rocking retro Nike Kobe basketball shoes, embodying the “Mamba Mentality” with every step. Initially favoring general-release colorways, Clark’s sneaker journey took a major leap during her rookie season in the WNBA when Nike began crafting player-exclusive designs for her. One standout design debuted just before her playoff matchup against the Connecticut Sun: a custom Nike Kobe 5 Protro in an “Indiana Fever” colorway.

While most player-exclusive sneakers remain unavailable to the public, Nike appears to be making an exception for its budding star. According to a reputable sneaker news account, @Allinlivee, the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Indiana Fever” is slated for release later this year. Although Nike has yet to officially confirm details like pricing or a release date, images of Clark’s playoff kicks have already created buzz among sneaker enthusiasts and basketball fans alike.

The design is as bold as Clark’s on-court presence. The sneakers feature the Fever’s signature colors, with a dark navy upper complemented by an orange gradient on the heels, tongues, and Swoosh logos. Like all iterations of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro, these sneakers are packed with cutting-edge performance technology, ensuring they’re as functional as they are stylish.

The face of women’s basketball and sneaker innovation

Clark’s off-season has been anything but quiet. She co-starred in Nike’s “So Win” marketing campaign, which debuted during Super Bowl LIX. In the ad, Clark can be seen sporting another eye-catching pair: the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low “Moonwalker” colorway.

Beyond her appearances in high-profile campaigns, Clark has been busy at Nike’s Oregon headquarters working on her first-ever signature sneaker. According to Nike CEO Elliott Hill, this project is part of an unprecedented eight-year, $28 million signature sneaker deal Clark signed in 2024-the largest endorsement contract ever for a women’s basketball player.

Clark’s influence extends far beyond the court. Her rise as a fashion-forward athlete and brand ambassador is reshaping the landscape for women in sports. Fans eagerly await her sophomore WNBA season next spring, but until then, her sneaker game continues to make waves.
