Caitlin Clark’s excitement after seeing the wedding announcement of a former Iowa teammate

Caitlin Clark expressed excitement after learning that her former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate, Gabbie Marshall, has announced her engagement – demonstrating the enduring bond between the two basketball stars. Indiana Fever star Clark, who became one of the most decorated players in women’s college basketball history at the University of Iowa, set multiple NCAA records.

She not only led the nation in scoring and assists, but guided the team to National Championship Game appearances in 2023 and 2024.

She collected numerous honors, including two National Player of the Year awards and three Big Ten Player of the Year distinctions.

But beyond that, Clark also serving as a mentor and leader both on and off the court, making her one of the sport’s most celebrated figures.

Gabbie Marshall, who shared the backcourt with Clark during their time at Iowa, was known for her steady defense and leadership,

She helped the Hawkeyes secure victories across multiple seasons and providing critical support to Clark on the floor.

A moment of unbridled joy

On Sunday, February 22, the 25-year-old announced her engagement to longtime partner Spencer Touro via Instagram.

“2-18-26 WE’RE ENGAGED!! So excited for this next chapter of our lives! And we’ve got a new friend to join us for the ride,” Marshall wrote.

The post quickly amassed more than 60,000 likes, as congratulations poured in from all over social media. And Clark made sure her love was felt as she posted two enthusiastic comments.

“LETSSSSS RAGEEEE,” she said, accompanied by six heart emojis, followed by “CONGRATS SISTA.”

After college, Marshall pursued academics over professional basketball, earning a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

But she and Clark have maintained a close friendship through social media and personal visits.

Marshall also revealed plans to relocate to Indianapolis after her fiancé accepted a position there – coincidentally, the same city where Clark now plays professionally for the Indiana Fever.

Fever set to land dynamic player to help Clark in Indiana?

Meanwhile the Fever are emerging as serious WNBA championship contenders, with stars Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Clark leading the way after last season’s semifinal run.

Holding a top-10 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft on April 13, the Fever could select UCLA guard/forward Gabriela Jaquez, who has been described as “solid at everything” and a natural complement to Clark and Mitchell.

The 22-year-old Jaquez has improved her shooting in her senior season, showing a 42 percent mark from three-point range, and is praised for her smart cuts, defensive instincts, and relentless energy on both ends of the floor.

Bleacher Report analyst Hunter Cruse cautions that her shooting percentages may be inflated, with non-conference long-range accuracy at 54 percent dropping to 27 percent in Big Ten games, highlighting inconsistency against stronger competition.

Despite the drop, Jaquez is seen as an immediate contributor in the WNBA, providing versatility and effort, and if she can maintain consistent shooting, the Fever would gain a valuable piece at the 10th overall pick.
