Caitlin Clark, without playing for Fever, still holds 3 records in WNBA Playoffs

Indiana Fever qualified for the second consecutive WNBA Playoffs. It still remains to be seen if they will advance to the Semifinals, since they tied the series with Atlanta Dream, forcing a third game.

However, along the way, they lost five players for the rest of the season, among them, Caitlin Clark. Despite her absence from the courts, she is still the owner of three records, which she set in 2024.

Clark is still going strong

The 23-year-old point guard had an incredible first year in the league. Selected in the 2024 WNBA Draft as the first overall pick by Indiana, Clark continued her professional career at the same pace she had been demonstrating at Iowa.

In 40 games with Fever, she averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a league-high 8.4 assists per game.

Despite her success in her first year, her second year didn’t go as planned. Injuries to her quadriceps and groin led to just 13 games with Fever in which she averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals. In early September, the team confirmed that Clark would be ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Despite this, CC remains in effect. As revealed by ESPN, Caitlin still ranks first in these three all-time WNBA playoff categories:

  • Player with the most career 3-point attempts per game, with 12.5
  • Player with the most career field goal attempts per game, with 20
  • Player with the most career assists per game, with 8.5

However, what is most striking is that not only did she achieve these numbers in her first year in the league, but she did it playing only two postseason games against Connecticut Sun. He recorded 18.0 points, 8.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds in over 38.0 minutes per outing.

Now, in Clark’s absence, Indiana will look to seal its Semifinal berth and its first series win since 2015 on Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Gateway Center.
