Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin have always been the perfect example of friendship goals, both on and off the court.
The duo, who led Iowa to consecutive NCAA championship games, continue to share their bond with fans through their playful exchanges on social media. And now, their connection is paying off in more ways than one-this time, through a collaboration with an $81 billion company.
It all started when Kate Martin announced her new partnership with DoorDash, the popular food delivery and takeout platform. In her promotional post, Martin called the service a lifesaver, especially during the hectic basketball season. “Comes in clutch during the season,” she joked, throwing in a bit of her court-themed humor with the caption: “Name someone that gives more assists than DoorDash? I’ll wait.”
DoorDash Responds to Clark’s Request
Seeing an opportunity for some playful banter, Caitlin Clark wasted no time dropping a comment under Martin‘s post, saying, “Get me a free DashPass.” While it was just a casual demand from one friend to another, it quickly turned into something more.
Recognizing Clark‘s star power, DoorDash itself replied, “@caitlinclark22 Say less. We got you.” Just like that, the basketball superstar had effortlessly scored a free DashPass, further cementing her influence beyond her dominance on the court.
This lighthearted interaction also highlighted the continued partnership and friendly rivalry between Clark and Martin. The two have made a habit of calling each other out over their brand deals and achievements.
Recently, when Martin starred in a Samsung ad promoting the Galaxy smartphone and the Unrivaled League, Clark couldn’t resist taking a playful jab. “Send me the new number then,” she commented, staying true to their endlessly entertaining back-and-forth.
A Friendship That Reaches Beyond Basketball
Their camaraderie even appears to have professional benefits. Reports suggest that Clark was influential in recruiting veteran Sydney Colson to the Indiana Fever, with broadcaster Emily Proud revealing, “She said she heard some good things about Caitlin Clark from her Aces teammate Kate Martin as well. So that made the decision easy.”
And it’s not just endorsements or team-building that are keeping Clark busy. Her much-anticipated player-exclusive Nike Kobes are set for release on June 1, with fans eagerly awaiting their chance to grab a pair.
Two designs are expected, including the “Indiana Fever” colorway and a light blue and white Nike Kobe 6 Protos.
The shoes are part of her lucrative eight-year, $28 million deal with Nike, and it’s only the beginning of her journey. As revealed by Nike’s Elliott Hill, Clark has spent time at Nike’s headquarters working on her own signature shoe.
Though her influence continues to grow, it’s clear that Caitlin Clark’s friendship with Kate Martin remains as strong as ever.
And no matter how successful they become, their playful jabs and mutual support show they’ll always be each other’s biggest fans.
Whether it’s through partnerships, sneakers, or a simple DoorDash deal, the dynamic between these two stars shows no signs of slowing down.
