Caitlin Clark unexpectedly features on Angel Reese’s Valentine’s Day: Damn time flies

Angel Reese chose to celebrate Valentine’s Day by remembering one of the times she beat Caitlin Clark, as the Chicago Sky star recalled her impressive 2022 win against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The 22-year-old was with the Maryland Terrapins at the time and starred in the 81-69 win against Clark on February 15, 2022 by producing 25 points and 13 rebounds. She also added two assists, steals and blocks in just 33 minutes of action and went 9-15 from the field.

“Damn time flies,” Reese posted to X.com, formerly Twitter, with laughing emojis alongside a montage of her highlights from the game as she reflected on what appears to be a career highlight for herself.

It was an off-color performance for Clark too, who now plays with the Indiana Fever in the WNBA, as she could only produce a 7-25 rate from the field and also went 3-13 on three-point efforts.

Whilst she did still put up 19 points, six rebounds and six assists, she also allowed 10 turnovers as she proved unable to stop Reese‘s charge to the victory.

Fans not happy with Reese’s post

That was one of their early instalments in their infamous basketball rivalry. Reese later switched to the LSU Tigers and went on to beat Clark in the national championship game, although the latter got some sort of revenge a year later by eliminating the Tigers with the Hawkeyes.

Their rivalry then continued on into the WNBA, with Reese celebrating aggressive flagrant fouls against her nemesis. They contested the Rookie of the Year Award in the opening half of the season but in the end, Clark proved to be clearly better and won all but one of the votes.

Now with this post, which fans have taken as another jab at her rival, Reese has come under fire on social media.

One user commented, “Sure does. Why not show most recent and last college game vs CC? Oh we know. Let’s show last game this yr in the W on “Barbie Night”. 20 spot with CC handing out 32-12. Right those dint matter.”

A second said, “The start of a rivalry sadly. I’m still happy you tune out the hate.”

And a third wrote, “Did you watch the game? Let’s just day CC and Angel were seeing very different types of defense.”
