As Caitlin Clark prepares to launch her second WNBA season, the Indiana Fever star is looking back on a whirlwind offseason that included a moment many fans could only dream of, watching a Kansas City Chiefs playoff game alongside global pop icon Taylor Swift.
Clark, whose meteoric rise in college basketball turned her into a national sensation, was invited to watch the Chiefs’ divisional round playoff win over the Houston Texans from Swift’s suite at Arrowhead Stadium in January.
Clark’s dream night at Arrowhead
A longtime Chiefs fan and proud Swiftie, the experience was more than just a celebrity encounter for the 22-year-old guard-it was a full-circle moment.
“I’m talking football with her,” Clark told ESPN’s Alexa Philippou.
“She loves the Chiefs just as much as I do. We’re just having normal conversations as any other person in Arrowhead Stadium that night.”
The two were seen chatting and sharing laughs throughout the game, a moment that drew plenty of attention at the time but had gone largely unspoken by Clark-until now.
According to the Fever’s general manager Amber Cox, Clark was surprisingly modest about the experience.
“She’s like, ‘It was really cool, she was really cool,'” Cox recalled.
“And then she’s just off to her workout.”
Still, Clark made it clear the impression Swift left was a lasting one.
“Honestly, probably one of the sweetest people I’ve ever been around,”Clark said.
“Everybody says that when you meet her, but it’s really true. She just treats everybody with the same amount of kindness, and her family was great.”
While Clark didn’t attend the AFC Championship or Super Bowl, her brief public connection with Swift has fans speculating whether the Grammy winner, and her boyfriend, Chiefs star Travis Kelce, might return the favor and catch a Fever game this season.
Off the court, Clark also enjoyed moments like attending the Masters, but most of her offseason was spent training and preparing for a breakout second year in the WNBA.
She’ll have her first chance to put that work on display when Indiana opens its season this Saturday against the Chicago Sky.
