WNBA star Caitlin Clark has opened headlines recently not for any Indiana Fever-related news, but for something that goes well beyond sports. Former Iowa Hawkeye player in her college times, she had a beautiful gesture toward her “partner in crime” of those years, Monika Czinano, who is currently going through tough personal situations.
Czinano saw how Clark proved the sisterhood that unites them by uploading a collage of images on her Instagram account to celebrate her birthday. As Czinano navigates a deeply personal and challenging chapter, Clark’s gesture of support means way more than just an act of respect.
Always by her side
While the specifics of Czinano’s personal struggles remain private out of respect for her, Clark’s public support was unmistakable. To celebrate Czinano’s 26th birthday, Clark shared three different pictures with her; two of them while defending the Iowa Hawkeye’s jersey and the other one in a night out both of them enjoyed.
Above the pictures, Clark wrote a message remembering all the things they lived together, calling it their prime:
“Happy Bday to the mikan goat, throwback to our prime together
However, that was not it. Below the images, Clark left a message that seems to mean way more than just an appreciation for her. She wrote “Love you”.
While this may look like a normal or standard cute message for someone you care about, it transmits a calm, acknowledging message to what Czinano is going through, showing her all the support.

For three seasons at the University of Iowa, the Clark-Czinano connection was one of the most feared offensive weapons in college basketball. They led the Hawkeyes to a National Championship appearance in 2023, with Clark’s vision and Czinano’s clinical finishing at the rim creating a dynamic duo for the ages.
However, since Czinano retired from professional basketball in late 2024 to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor, their relationship has shifted from teammates to friends. When news surfaced this month regarding a “tough personal time” for Czinano, Clark was the first to be by her side.
