Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark added a new chapter to her career on Sunday, and this time, it had nothing to do with scoring in the WNBA.

The two-time All-Star made her broadcasting debut for NBC, joining the pregame coverage of a marquee NBA matchup between the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden.

Clark, who was recently named a special contributor for NBC‘s NBA broadcasts, shared the set with Reggie Miller and Carmelo Anthony, along with veteran sportscaster Maria Taylor.

While the assignment marked a significant step in Clark‘s off-court career, it was a humorous moment rather than her analysis that captured attention online.

Rather than commenting on Miller‘s ranking of Clark amongst other basketball greats, or reflecting on her broadcasting debut, she focused on a more relatable concern: her height compared to her towering co-hosts.

“I’m going to wear stilts next time,” Clark posted on X, prompting thousands of reactions from fans who found her honesty and humor contagious.

Clark‘s NBC debut highlights the growing trend of elite athletes expanding their roles beyond competition.

Joining high-profile pregame broadcasts with legends like Miller and Anthony demonstrates both the network’s confidence in her media abilities and her appeal to a wide basketball audience.

She is scheduled to return as a special contributor on March 29, when NBC covers the Knicks against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Paycom Center.

Fans are already anticipating more of her signature personality on-air, blending sharp basketball insights with her natural humor.

Hall of fame legacy meets next generation

During the same broadcast, a playful yet telling moment between her and Miller, the Indiana Pacers icon widely considered one of the greatest shooters in NBA history.

“There’s a new shooter from Indiana,” Miller said on the broadcast. “See, I’m the third-best shooter in the state of Indiana now. It goes Caitlin, Tyrese, and now myself.”

Clark, smiling but quick with a response, didn’t shy away from the moment.

“We’ll have to get Tyrese‘s opinion on that,” she said. “I’m not sure Tyrese would agree.”

Clark‘s reputation has grown rapidly since her collegiate career at Iowa, where she captivated national audiences with her scoring, court vision, and clutch shooting.

Selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Fever, she earned Rookie of the Year and All-Star honors in her first season, averaging 19.2 points and 8.4 assists per game while attempting nearly nine three-pointers per night.
