Caitlin Clark responds to LPGA golf criticism with trademark self-deprecation

There’s no doubt that Caitlin Clark can do it all. On the basketball court, she’s a one-woman army, contributing in every aspect of the game to help her team win games. Off the court, she’s a marketing star whose brand name speaks for itself. And her talents go beyond basketball.

As with many other professional athletes, Clark has an affinity for golf. She likes to get out to the course whenever the opportunity rises. And she had a special opportunity this week, as she was invited to The ANNIKA Pro-Am at the Pelican Golf Club in Florida. Clark already got people talking during her first day on the course, taking pictures with fellow professionals. But it was her swing that was a source of discussion.

Caitlin Clark’s golf swing surprised LPGA instructor and coach

Following her first day hitting the links, the LPGA got professional golf instructor and coach Megan Johnston to break down Clark’s swing and mechanics. Johnston broke Clark’s swing down eloquently, highlighting her favorite parts. She was actually impressed with how the WNBA player’s mechanics are set up.

Clark, using her trademark wit and sarcasm, responded to the video in classic fashion: “Yeah club face so open“. She also posted the video to her Instagram story and captioned it, “Odds are high I sliced that so bad right“.

Clearly, Clark doesn’t know how to take a compliment. Johnston was overly happy with Clark’s swing, but the WNBA player demands greatness in everything she does. It’s that competitive nature and desire to be perfect that makes her so good in everything she does.
