Caitlin Clark ‘refuses’ to wear a Colts jersey because Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce won’t let her

The Indiana Fever‘s offseason may have just begun, but Caitlin Clark continues to draw attention wherever she goes.

Over the weekend, Clark attended the Indianapolis Colts‘ matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium alongside her Fever teammates Aari McDonald and Makayla Timpson.

The trio appeared on the Colts’ video board and posed for a short social media clip celebrating Indiana’s crossover of professional sports stars. But it wasn’t long before fans noticed something about Clark’s appearance that set her apart from her teammates.

While McDonald and Timpson proudly wore custom Colts jerseys, Clark didn’t put hers on. Instead, she held the jersey in her hands and unfurled it for the camera, smiling and acknowledging the gesture without crossing her own fan allegiance.

A subtle nod to her Chiefs loyalty

Clark’s choice wasn’t meant as a slight toward the Colts. Those who have followed her off the court know she’s an unabashed Kansas City Chiefs fan, frequently referencing quarterback Patrick Mahomes and attending Chiefs games in the past.

Her connection to the reigning Super Bowl champions is well documented.

So when she joined her Fever teammates in Indianapolis, fans familiar with her fandom quickly understood her decision.

Rather than wearing the Colts colors, Clark opted for a compromise: she held up the jersey for the team’s social media cameras, showing appreciation for the franchise’s welcome while still honoring her Chiefs roots.

That small gesture drew plenty of attention once the Colts posted, and later deleted, their social media clip of the Fever players’ appearance.

The original post read, “22 and Indiana Fever in the building!!” and showed Clark alongside her teammates, but online commenters quickly zeroed in on her choice not to wear the jersey.

Clark has always walked the line between being a professional athlete and an unabashed fan of other sports. During her time at Iowa, she frequently attended NFL and NBA games, and since joining the WNBA, she’s maintained that enthusiasm for Kansas City.
