Indiana Fever had an atypical season, plagued by injuries but still reaching the Playoff Semifinals. Although they lost to the eventual champions, Las Vegas Aces, they stretched the series to five games and, with six players down, fought until the last minute.
After closing out this year, the team is already starting to think about the 2026 season, but this means saying goodbye to some of its players, and Caitlin Clark reflected on this.
CC talks about the Fever’s difficult situation
During this year, the Fever lost the former Iowa player for the rest of the season, who was only able to play 13 games with the team after a brilliant rookie year. In addition, Sophie Cunningham, Damiris Dantas, Sydney Colson, Aari McDonald, and Chloe Bibby joined the group of injured players.
For this reason, 17 players wore the Indiana colors, and to alleviate the multiple injuries, figures such as Aari McDonald, Odyssey Sims, Shey Peddy, and Aerial Powers were added through emergency contracts.
Add to this the fact that only Caitlin, Aliyah Boston, and Makayla Timpson have contracts through 2026 and the rest of their teammates are free agents, and the Fever faces a tough decision heading into next year.
The 23-year-old point guard reflected on this difficult situation on Aerial Powers’ YouTube vlog. While answering questions about the group and the talent of her teammates, how her second year has gone, and what changes she has observed from outside the court, Clark stated:
“Obviously not everybody can stay ’cause we had 17 people on our team. So, no matter who it is, you cherish those memories you got to spend with each other,” CC said when she and Aerial discussed the team.
The truth is that the Fever has not provided any further details about who will be on the roster next year, only revealing that Kelsey Mitchell is their priority. We will just have to wait and see what the team’s final decision is, but one thing is certain: the love and connection between Clark and her teammates will endure.
